07/11/2006: "Researching the Healing Elixir, Noni"

hammock-me-web (71k image)I write to you from Hawaii as I am here doing exhausting research on Noni la’ au. Noni is a fruit that was brought to the islands by the Polynesians as a healing plant. It has been used worldwide to assist with chronic fatigue, depression, skin disorders, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, gout and pain relief. Studies have shown Noni to be high in polysaccharides, which help with cell energy and is also a great source of natural Selenium. It is also known for its powerful anti-fungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and cancer prevention. It is one of the fastest growing nutritional supplements on the market. I have heard of several people who credit daily Noni doses for their recovered health.

It seems that nothing good for you taste very good and Noni is no exception. Luckily, this nasty tasting juice only has to be taken in small quantities to reap huge benefits. The bottle recommends a couple of teaspoons a day. I try to take a shot (1 ounce) in the morning and before bed. You will need to either mix it with something sweet (passion fruit juice here in Hawaii) or chase it with water or other favorite juices.

Thinking purely of my readers and your health, I have traveled far to bring you this information. There are several growers and distributors here on the islands. Yesterday, I learned of a farm near here, on the North Shore of Oahu, that looks very promising. If you are interested, you can virtually visit (I recommend a trip however) Kamauoha Farms at www.kamauohafarms.com.

I also captured this self-portrait above, to let you know of the pains of my journey.

To your health! cool eh?

Doug....this wonderful trip sounds so good on so many levels....Noni....fascinating...Here is being 90 and biking two miles to fish. Let it be so for all of us. Dave and I are reading and re-reading your words about diet. In the last year, it seems so much has changed. There is a real epiphany in regard to toxins and free radicals. Because of you, so many of us have changed our habits of old and have become more thoughtful about food, cleaning products and certainly skin care. My new cause celebre is hormone imbalance and the research of Dr. John Lee. We might as well be living in the Dark Ages. All of this information is so impowering and now this wonderful noni...can not wait to try it. Love to you, Jeanette, N and A....Mary

But then ... their hammocks aren't as attractively placed.

Enjoy Hawaii! smile

Love the self portrait! I think I'll blow it up to put on my "work wall" to remind myself the best reason for working. smile

You are SO right on about the bad taste of good things. Some get better with time, but a brussel sprout is a brussel sprout (and evil). I've started taking a shot of Acai in the morning in hopes of abandoning my caffeine habit (thanks to you). It was nasty, especially when you got the "gift" of one of the berries (something about a solid in a liquid that doesn't taste right anyway...). I've found that it doesn't taste as bad anymore. I look like I have a drinking problem because of all the shot glasses in the dishwasher, but as long as I remember they were Acai shots, I'm good. I've also become a fan (can't believe I said that) of Colon Cleanse. It wasn't so much the taste but the texture that was hard to swallow (literally). Taking it with ice water helps - tastes more like a drink than poorly made cream of wheat. It also helps with water intake. After reading your water entry a few months back I realized I had to either lose a lot of weight or seriously increase the water intake. The goal is to meet halfway.

Thanks for all the research - there's got to be something in Fiji I imagine, though it would probably take a long while to uncover! razz

Nice camera resolution. Cut your toe nails! wink

BTW - My Uncle in Hawaii swears by Noni and has taken it religiously for many years. He's almost 90 and bikes 2 miles to the shore to fish everyday. Must be something to it!

Be sure to take time to enjoy Hawaii while you do your "research."

Aloha

Hope you're having a great time over there. Take in lots of those wonderful fragrances and tradewinds. That's a wonderful place to be. cool eh?
