06/07/2006: "Family Photo"

While I am off chemo and feeling pretty good, we decided to have some family photos done. We haven’t had a picture taken since Alex was little, as she cannot handle a sitting. Our friend Carolyn of Carolyn Uhland Photography came to our house and took pictures of us around our property. I thought I would share one.

Rocky,
The photo of you with the family is STELLAR! Some happy moments can go a long way to see us through lots of difficult ones, I find.

Underneath are the Everlasting Arms, and I am asking Him for healing and comfort and wisdom.

Hi everyone: I found this reflection from a book I cannot remember but Oprah Book it was. Very inspiring for me. I hope it is for you all. Janet
"My life now, my whole life, regardless of all that may happen to me, every minute of it, is not only not meaningless…but has the unquestionable meaning of the good which it is in my power to put into it!" (p. 817)that is such a powerful truth! It is what we give to others, the good that each of us has the power to put out into the world—that ultimately gives meaning to each of our lives. I believe that with all my heart!

rolls eyes Thank you Doug for the beautiful picture of your family. Everyone looks great - we need to get our boys together. It will happen this summer!!

I am amazed at all the information on your Blog. I will forward your address to Carol Wright who is my other friend with pancreatic cancer who is using alternative medicine. I sent you the name of her doctor in Moraga. She is still going strong and looks good - she doesn't like brocolli for breakfast however. The laser treatment sounds hopeful. I am proud of the influence you are having on others with all your research. I keep your family in my daily prayers and have put your name on a temple roll where hundreds pray for your speedy recovery. Love, Ann

Hi Doug,

Beautiful photo of your family. It was great seeing you last night and an incredible concert! As one of your former students, you have no idea how cool it was to be able to sit next to the person from whom I'd learned so much.

The ET program changed my life in a very positive way. What I learned from you was instrumental in that change - and my learning curve was nearly vertical. I still use the information from your class (and the Jackalope). Of all my notebooks, the ones from your classes were the ones I kept. Now I'd like to see how you got the nickname. I hope you'll let me know when you're playing again.

I was hoping to catch up with you after the show, but guess missed you in passing. You look great, well rested and healthy.

Through your Blog, you continue to touch lives - it's the ripple of the butterfly's wings... neverending and profound.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I am absolutely grateful our paths crossed for a second time so I could thank you for the impact you've made (and you could probably multiply that by thousands more). You always remember the good teachers because they are your mentors and models for what you would like to become.

Thank you, Doug. You are an amazing person.
